Schloss Schonbrunn in Vienna and its gardens. Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth lived here back in the day.
Here's the fountain in the gardens with the Gloriette above on the hill. I climbed up there and then snacked on some gummi bears while doing some serious contemplation about the wealth in this world - past and present.
One thing that defines the Austrian way is cleanliness and straightforwardness. They seem to be very structured - at least in Vienna - as can be seen by the meticulous trimming of the bushes and trees.
The famous Lippizanner horses of the Spanish Riding school in Vienna. Visited one of their morning work-outs. Lots of prancing forwards and backwards.
The apartment buildings designed by Hundertwasser. Also toured his museum aka Kunsthauswien with its uneven floors to tantalize the feet as you enjoy his art. One of the most intriguing was the view of a waterdrop falling between skyscrapers.
Another sign of Austrian cleanliness and structure. I have never seen so many sparkling white monuments and buildings in one city! I also visited the Emporer's Expensive Clothing museum, the House of Music, saw one of those cheesey Mozart concerts where they wear the wigs, got in to a 92.9 radio station party and hit many other clubs. Vienna is a good place!
The Ferris Wheel in Prater Park famous from the movie "The Third Man" - I even took the Third Man Sewer Tour... pretty entertaining.. reenacting some of the scenes and getting the lowdown on the shit of Vienna. Now I guess I should see the movie.
