Laura Secord, daughter of a loyalist family she was born in Massachusetts but fled to Canada after the American Revolt. During the War of 1812, when the U.S. invaded Canada she walked 32km over very rough terrain to give vital information to the Crown forces that allowed them to defeat the U.S. forces at Beaver Dams. A national heroine in Canada, Laura Secord Chocolates are named in her honour.
