Dr. Finngeir Hiorth was born in Indonesia in 1928. His parents were Norwegian missioners from the Salvation Army, thus his great links with the so called Third World. He worked for the University of Oslo Department of Philosophy until 1993. He is a honorary member of the Peruvian Journal of Applied Philosophy Publishing Association (AERPFA).

AERPFA has translated from English into Spanish his Introduction to Humanism (1996), Introduction to Atheism (1997), Ethics for Atheists (1998) -both published in English by the Hindu Secular Society of which he is a life member- (1998), Values (1999), Studying Religion (2000), Big Bang or no Bang? Science, Religion & Philosophy (2000) -the last 4 books were published by the Norwegian Ethical Humanist Society.

Other works of Dr. Hiorth include: On the characterization of sentences (1962),-doctoral thesis published in German at Holland-, Philosophers of Indonesia (1983) and Timor: Past and Present (1985) -both in English appeared in Australia-, Naturalism (1992) -published in German-, Secular Views of Life (1993), Introduction to Marxism (1994), Who was Jesus? (2001) -the three ones in Norwegian-, Secularism in Sweden (1995), Secularism in Germany (1997)  –both in English-, the last 5 books were published by the Norwegian Ethical Humanist Society-, Methaphysics and Materialism (1997) -in Norwegian-,and Atheism in India (1998) –published in English by the Hindu Secular Society-.
