Escape
Ryou’s POV
I walked through the pouring rain. I didn’t know where I would go. Yugi’s place was nearby. Maybe Yami could let me stay there. Bakura hated Yami. I never knew what happened between them to cause such a rivalry. Bakura snarled at the mention of the former pharaoh. Yami protected me and I trusted him. I didn’t know where else to go in the rain. I coughed harder. I don’t know why I felt so tired, but I coughed hoarsely. Maybe I was getting a cold.
Well, being locked out of your house in ten degree weather doesn’t help. My yami locked me out of the house because I forgot to draw him a hot bath for when he woke up. He did his….usual thing to me…….and then he drew himself a hot bath, leaving me a bloody, crying, passion-covered mess in the snow. He didn’t care.
I knocked on the door of the Game Shop. It was late and all the lights were off.
I put my head on the door of the Game Shop. I was cold, hungry, tired, beaten. I didn’t care where I fell. I didn’t care about anything but sleep.
Yugi opened the door in his pyjamas rubbing his eyes. “Ryou? Ryou, what are you doing here?”
“I’m….” I couldn’t say it. I couldn’t ask. Yami walked downstairs in his blue satin boxers and took one look at me. He pulled me inside and I screamed turning my head from him.
I averted his eyes as I dropped my bags. Yami and Yugi stopped cold and looked at me. I’m glad my long white hair covered my eyes from their gaze.
Yami took my wrist and turned it upside down. He found the bruises…….
“Ryou…what caused these?”
I whimpered. “Rope.”
“Rope?”
“He….he tied me up again, Yami. I thought Bakura had changed. He said he had changed! He cried to me! He begged me for forgiveness! And now he…He did THIS! He did THIS to me AGAIN! Yami, I can’t take it!”
I fell to my bruised knees and sobbed at his ankles. Bakura promised me he changed. But he didn’t! He lied to me! It wouldn’t be the first time.
Yugi helped me off the floor and Yami grabbed the bandages. “Ryou, you have to tell someone.”
“What am I going to say? That a five thousand year old spirit that lives in my Ring has been beating me up and raping me??? No one would believe me!” I began to sob about my predicament.
Yami came back and ran his fingers through my white hair. “Now, Ryou, I’m glad you came to us.” Yami put some antiseptic on my wounds and bandaged them up.
“Why is Bakura always doing stuff like this, Yami? It’s not fair!” Yugi asked angrily. I never known Yugi to burst out in anger like that.
“It’s just the kind of person Bakura is. He’s always been like that, even back in ancient Egypt.”
My fist clenched. “I hate my yami! I hate him! I hate him! I wish I never known him!”
“There. There, Ryou,” Yami said trying his best to calm me down. “You can stay here tonight and get some rest. Yugi, go upstairs and fix up the guest room.”
I looked sadly at the floor. I was tired. Exhausted. My mind was going a mile a minute.
Why was my yami so cruel? Nothing can forgive what he put me through!
It felt good to lie in a bed and not be pulled out by my hair, or to be raped, or to be beaten unless I gave him all of the covers leaving me freezing. Yami tucked me in and I fell asleep grateful for one night of uninterrupted sleep.
