Caterfree: Hope things between you and your
folks get better. As far as reviews go, I don’t know why yours are always being
cut off.
Dragon Tears: This person came up in “Carry Me Home” where
Seto was telling Joey about a woman who raped him. This person is a scientist.
Kschur32: My Anzu is ALWAYS insane. If she was a real person,
she never would survive all I do to her. It proves…she is not human!
bakachibi voidfox:
Aria and Aten have yami blood, so their blood is technically not human. Aria is
more yami than Aten, though.
Liann: Did you send the pic of Ryou
holding Bakura? Hope you liked
‘Shadows…’
Alaya: I am looking for fanart and more Anzu Bashing will be in this story than
‘Hostile..’
Camille: No, it’s not wise for them to kidnap Aria, but
they’ll have a plan in place.
Shadow of Light: How does Anzu keep getting hired? I dunno.
All I know is that it’s fun to put her in different places to wreak havoc. I
want to put her in an Art Museum next.
Terra: I needed to bring that part of the story in. GO
MIRANDA!
Dragondreamer: *hands plushie of fainted Seto* Here’s a
present!
KuraMagicianGirl: I’m always willing to answer
questions! *hugs*
Valea: Nope, I can’t kill her! Then she can’t wreak havoc in an Art Museum
later.
Broken Time: Beatrice will be good. She’s going to be one of
Aten’s nurses who will take his blood work.
thunderchaos: It should have killed Anzu, but…my
Anzu is not human!
Seto Lover and Bakurasgirl worshipper: Gotta love
bloodthirsty chibis.
Dark Blood
Dr. Zira gathered the vials of
blood that Beatrice had extracted from Aria and Aten. He didn’t wish the blood to be frozen
automatically. He wanted to have the
blood tested and made certain that it was clean and free of any harmful
bacteria.
John sat in the lab, testing various blood samples for
diseases. He added a necessary solution
to the drop of blood and put it in a computer to analyze the blood levels.
Dr. Zira placed the vials of blood
on John’s desk. “John, can you test these vials for any diseases? These vials of blood are going to be stored
for Aten Ishtar and I want to make sure they are free of disease. If they are bug-free, freeze the blood for
future use.”
John nodded. “Yeah, sure, no problem. I’ll be done this one in a second.”
“Who are you working on now?”
“Mrs. Gillam.”
Zira sighed. “What does the test say?”
“I don’t know, doc. I think it’s cancerous.”
Zira sighed and leaned against the door.
He pushed his glasses higher on his nose.
“I already had to tell one couple two days ago that they were
going to lose their child to heart failure!
Now I have to tell a husband his wife has breast cancer. I need a vacation.”
John grabbed the vials of blood. “I’ll get right on it, doc. Don’t worry.”
Zira left and John set to work on Aten’s
vials of blood.
“Okay…eight year old male….Aten Bakari
Ishtar.”
John analyzed a drop of the blood from each vial. The blood was not reacting to any of the
tests. The computer could identify many
of the DNA sequences of the boy’s blood, but there were gaps. The computer alerted him that it had detected
an unknown substance in the child’s blood.
John scratched his head. “Aten is missing some vital DNA
chemicals! How can this be?” John looked at the results.
He took a drop from each of the vials marked as coming from
his biological sister, Aria Kanika Itemri. John tested
the blood with the same results.
There was something about Aria’s blood that caught his
eye. Aria was missing more DNA
sequences and there was also an unknown substance in her blood.
John exposed the blood to a special chemical and put it under
a special light. The blood was meant to
turn blue.
Instead, Aria’s blood turned black. John put the blood in a Petri dish and
combined the blood with a yellow liquid. Aten’s blood turned purple when exposed to
the same test,
Aria’s blood began to boil and sizzle in the dish.
“That shouldn’t be!”
John backed into the table and mixed Mrs. Gillam’s
blood with Aria’s.
“Oh, shit!” John gasped as he cleaned up the spill.
The blood in the dish started to turn color.
John put the dish with the combined blood under a microscope.
“No way!
This isn’t possible!”
John put a drop of the combined blood on a strip and ran it
through the computer.
The computer reported its findings.
“Mrs. Gillam’s cancer is gone! But….but…..it was here a minute ago! How can this happen?”
John combined the blood again on three different test strips.
Each time, Aria’s blood killed the cancerous cells.
“Mrs. Gillam had cancer! I was sure
of it!”
John put a slide of Mrs. Gillam’s
blood under the microscope. Cancer cells
were definitely present. Using a dropper,
John squeezed a drop of Aria’s blood onto Gillam’s
blood.
John watched as the cancer cells disappeared.
“This is…amazing! A miracle!
Something like this has to be handled carefully. Who is the patient? Eight year old
female…..Aria Kanika Itemri. The lab has to find out about this girl!”
John grabbed the vials of Aria and Aten’s blood.
He placed them in his pocket and ran off.

Dr. Diane Flemming looked down at
the Boarder Collie puppy that was laying on its
side. She turned to the doctor beside
her.
“How much did you put into the thing? It looks like you overdosed it.”
The doctor shook his head. “No, the others also became tired
right after the injection.”
Diane turned to the doctor and walked out of the room. The doctor followed her.
“If we give our soldiers this injection, they’ll be
useless! GeneTech
was founded by Gozuboro Kaiba to be the most advanced
laboratory created to make the perfect soldier! Cruel! Efficient!
Fearless! Not a bunch of sleeping
babies! This country does not win wars
with sleeping children! Find something
else!”
Diane walked angrily to her office. She sat down behind her
desk and looked out the window at the ocean.
GeneTech was created on the waterfront by Gozuboro Kaiba to create the perfect soldier. Gozuboro made sure
the lab was located as far from the scrutiny of the police as possible. With Gozuboro’s
death, Seto Kaiba had cut their funding.
Diane clenched her fists angrily. If she had the funding from
KaibaCorp for more genetic research, her lab could do
more extensive research on toxic chemicals for chemical warfare, more genetic
experimentation to increase the ferocity of the country’s military.
Seto Kaiba told her that KaibaCorp
was going to produce technology for Duel Monsters and had no business in
tampering with genetics.
Diane grinned. She had convinced him to fund some of her
research as long as it didn’t involve genetics.
She gave Seto a false report on how she used the money and
severed all financial ties with KaibaCorp.
A grin crossed her face as she remembered straddling the
CEO’s waist and grinding onto him. She
remembered holding him down and taking her pleasure from him….despite his
attempts to struggle against her.
She couldn’t pin the CEO down now…he was too strong. But, she enjoyed him while she had him.
Someone knocked on the door. “Come in.”
John ran into the room. “Diane! I have something here that will stun you!”
Diane leaned forward. “It’s not like you to get so excited
over something, John. What is it?”
John put the six vials of blood on the desk. “These blood samples were taken from two of
Dr. Zira’s patients.
They are half-brother and half-sister.
They share the same mother, but have two different fathers.”
”So? What’s the big deal?”
John gripped her desk as he sat in the chair beside it. “The
mother is a guy! The mother is a man!”
Diane laughed. “Have you been drinking? A male can’t be
pregnant!”
John leaned forward. “I know, but, these two kids are his
biological children. Anyway, the blood of the girl was accidentally mixed with
another patient’s.”
Diane sighed. “Whooptie-freaking-doo! Get to the point!”
John grinned. “The blood of the girl kills cancer cells!”
Diane’s brown eyes lit up. “HELLO! Really?”
John nodded. “I’ll show you! To the lab!”
************************
Diane followed John to the lab. John sifted through the blood samples.
“Give me a cancer slide! Pneumonia! Anything!”
Diane gave him a slide with cancerous cells on it.
John put it under the microscope and dropped one drop of
Aria’s blood on the slide.
Diane’s jaw dropped as she watched the cancer cells
disintegrate.
“Now, Diane, run the blood through the computer. You will
find that all of the cancer has been eradicated.”
Diane put the slide into the computer and the computer reported that there was
no sign of cancer.
“This is amazing! This is just what we need here at GeneTech! Who is
this girl?”
“She’s the daughter of one of Zira’s
patients! She’s the one who is the
daughter of the man!”
“What’s the mother’s name?”
”Ryou Bakura.”
The woman brushed her long hair behind her ears. “Oh! I know
him! My sister told me she went over to
his place and his boyfriend treated her rather cruelly. I haven’t seen my sister, Jessica, in ages!”
John held up the blood to the light. “See? The blood is
black! But it is supposed to be blue! This blood is a mystery!”
Diane leaned against the countertop. “Three vials is not going to be enough to run all of the tests we
need. We’re going to need the subject
herself.”
John’s eyes widened. “We have to kidnap Aria?”
Diane grinned. “Think of it, John! We can cure cancer with her blood! Who knows
what else we can do with it!”
“There are some unidentified substances in her blood that I
can’t seem to explain.”
Diane put her arm around John. “We could use her to build the
perfect soldier! She has the blood
running through her veins that would make her the ultimate fighting
machine. But, we must analyze her blood,
her skeletal structure, her immune system, her brain waves…EVERYTHING! Then, we could build the perfect combat
soldier! Seto Kaiba will be sorry he cut
my funding! He’ll be kissing MY ass for
a change!”
“How will we get our hands on her?”
Diane smiled and walked out of the lab. “I have my ways.”
Diane walked to the front desk to the security guard. “Panik?”
“Yes, Diane?”
“We need you to go out and get…a special specimen for us.”
Panik grinned and relaxed in his chair.
“What type of specimen?”
“An eight year old girl.”
Panik laughed. “You must be joking! Where
is the challenge?”
John leaned on the desk.
“You may want to be careful, Panik. The gaps in this child’s DNA suggests she may not be human
entirely! Observe her at first. I’m sure you can find her weakness.”
Panik grinned. “What’s in it for me?”
Diane sighed. “A hefty raise. So? What will it be?”
***********************************
The next day, Panik received the
address where the child lived. He
watched from the bushes when the little girl arrive
home.
Ryou opened the door and opened his arms to the two children
running for him. “Hello, pumpkins!”
Malik wiped the sweat from his forehead as he planted
marigolds in the front garden. “Did you have fun at Uncle Seto’s place?”
Aria nodded excitedly. “Yes! We played horsies
with Unkie Seto and Unkie
Puppy!”
Aten giggled. “Unkie Puppy put me
on his bat and I rode him!”
Seto and Joey approached and smiled at the scene of Ryou
kissing his children and hugging them.
They had never seen Ryou so happy.
Seto watched Ryou closely. Before those children had came
into Ryou’s life, he always felt that something had been missing in his
friend’s life.
Seto approached Ryou. “Do you feel better now, Ryou?”
Ryou looked up at Seto and shrugged. “I’m hanging on the best
I can. I’m trying, Seto. It’s not easy.”
“No, it’s not, Ryou.”
“Did you tell Joey?”
Seto nodded. “Yeah. I did.”
“What did Joey say?”
Seto yawned. “I got no sleep last night. All I did was hold
him. I think between the two of us, we killed a box of tissues.”
Marik came out of the house and Aten ran to him. “How’s my
little monkey?” Marik buried his face in his child’s neck and blew, sending
ripples up Aten’s spine. The chibi let out a squeal and laughed.
“Daddy! No tan beave!”
Marik picked up the thin child and held him on his hips. “Did
you have a good night’s sleep?”
Aten nodded. “I slept with Aiden
last night. We talt
and slept all night.”
Marik kissed the boy’s cheek. “That’s my good boy.”
“Where’s Bakura?”
Ryou pat Aria’s hair. “He’s still sleeping. He hasn’t woken
up yet.”
Seto looked at his watch.
“It’s
Marik rolled his eyes. “He is dead, moneybags! So am I!”
Joey snickered. “We know, Marik!”
Aria jumped up and down. “Mommy, can I go ride my bike to Gabby’s?”
Aria’s friend, Gabriel, lived a short distance away. She lived by Yugi’s Game Shop. They had been best friends since
preschool. Gabby and Aria could talk for
hours to each other and say nothing of importance. One time during a sleepover,
Robbie and Aten watched the two girls talk endlessly about nothing. Both boys fell asleep listening to them babble to each other.
The boys couldn’t understand how the two girls could talk and talk and
talk for so long without stopping to breathe.
“Wear your helmet and you can go.”
Aria squealed and kissed her mother. “I will!”
Seto hugged Ryou. “Keep us updated on Aten. We took the kids to the hospital for their
blood test yesterday, so that’s done.”
“Thank you, moneybags,” Marik said putting Aten down.
Aten looked up at his daddy.
“Daddy, tan I go to Robbie’s and play?”
“For a little while. We’ll come for you when it’s time.”
Aten squealed and hugged his father. “Thant you, daddy!”
Panik watched Aria run to the backyard.
She grabbed her helmet and pulled her batwings out of the helmet. She snapped her helmet and brought her bike
out front.
“Be careful, honey! Don’t talk to strangers!” Ryou called to
her.
“I won’t, mommy!”
Panik used the bushes to hide himself from
everyone’s gaze as he followed Aria. Her
spiky white hair flew behind her in the wind as she pedaled. The glittery tassels on her handlebars also
flew in the wind. Her purple dress
fluttered in the breeze.
She stopped and saw Yugi outside the Game Shop cleaning the
windows. “Hello, Uncle Yugi! How are you?”
Yugi smiled. “I’m fine, Aria.
I wanted to let you know that we have some new cards in that you may
like for your deck. Your deck has dragons, right?”
“Dragons and Fiends. What cards did you get in?”
“Come on in and I’ll show you.”
Aria kept her bike outside and entered the store. Yugi took
her to the glass counter and brought out a new card. Aria held it in her hand.
“Wow! This is a good card! Demon Dragon! 2900 Attack points and 3000 Defense! Not
bad!”
Yugi smiled at her. “Take it, Aria. You can have it.”
Aria’s face lit up and her eyes sparkled. “Really?
I can have this? What do I owe you?”
“Owe me? You don’t owe me, Aria.”
Yami stepped out from the back room and he let out a snarl. “YOU!”
Aria’s hair spiked and the Sennen Eye appeared on her
forehead. “Pharaoh!”
Yugi stepped in front of Yami. “Yami, I just wanted to show
her the new Demon Dragon card.”
“I’m going to use this to kick your ass, Yami!”
Yami’s Sennen Eye appeared. “Better watch your language,
young lady, or I’ll have to wash your mouth out with soap!”
“You touch me and I’m going to tell my daddy on you! Then
he’ll come here and kick your ass again!”
Yugi put his hands on Yami to keep him from flying at the
chibi yami. “Yami, I gave her the
card! I thought it would go really well
in her deck!”
“You gave her the Demon Dragon? Well, that fits her! She is a demon!”
“And you’re an ass! Maybe they’ll make a card for that and
you can put it in your pathetic deck, Yami! Then maybe you may be a challenge
to beat for once!”
Yami growled. This girl defeated Yami in a duel when she was
three years old. They were destined to duel again when she reached her
eighteenth birthday.
Yami had prophetic visions of their future duel. Aten, thin and weak, stood beside his sister,
his hair spiky and holding an item in his hands. Yami could see the gleam of a wedding ring on
Aten’s finger. Aria stood beside her
brother, her belly protruding prominently from her pregnancy. A wedding band on her
finger, a gold seashell locket around her neck.
“Demon seed!”
Aria laughed. “Now you call me names? Who’s the adult here, Yami?”
“You’re no better than your father…a common thief! I bet you
didn’t even pay for that card!”
Yugi shook his head. “I GAVE it to her as a present, Yami!”
Yami crossed his arms defiantly. “Yugi, I hope you realize
you are helping my sworn enemy.”
Yugi narrowed his eyes. “Aria is Ryou and Bakura’s daughter!
I am not going to treat her like garbage because you don’t like her.”
Aria stuck her tongue out at Yami.
“Brat!”
“Murderer!”
“Bastard girl!”
Aria crossed her arms. “My mommy and daddy are married, so
I’m not a bastard! Neither is Aten!”
Yugi snapped his fingers. “That’s right! Aria, I have a card
for Aten’s deck!”
“Yugi…that is not a good idea.”
Yugi looked over at Aria. “What’s in Aten’s deck?”
Aria narrowed her eyes at Yami, keeping an eye on him. “He
has Fiends and Zombies.”
Yami snorted. “Why does that not surprise me?”
Yugi handed Aria a card. “It’s The Demon Artist! I know he’ll like that.”
Aria looked at the card and smiled. “My brother will like it.
I’ll give it to him. Meanwhile, Auntie
Yami, I suggest you improve your game. Having you lose every time we duel is
starting to get boring!”
Aria turned to Yugi
and bowed. “Thank you for the cards, Uncle Yugi!”
“Get out of here, Aria!” Yami growled.
She brushed her hair behind her ears with a grin. Her canines
sharpened as she turned to Yami. “Bite me, pharaoh!”
She gave Yugi a kiss on the cheek and walked out of the Game
Shop.
Panik watched her go into a house by the
Game Shop. Yami stepped out and he
gasped.
”PANIK! What are you doing here?”
Panik narrowed his eyes. “I’m on an assignment!”
Yami grabbed Panik’s shirt tightly.
“Who is it this time? Who are you
working for?”
Panik grabbed Yami’s wrist. “I’m working
for GeneTech!”
Yami released Panik. “I thought you
were after Yugi!”
Panic laughed. “I want nothing with your boyfriend! I’m following the girl!”
“What do you want with her?” Yami asked as he raised an
eyebrow.
“I want to take her….Why should I tell you?”
Yami’s lip curled into a sneer. “Any enemy of Aria Kanika is a friend of mine.
That child is destined to be my downfall. Her existence puts the world
in jeopardy.”
Panik brushed off his shirt. “I work for GeneTech
as a security guard. But, I was offered a substantial raise if I can get my
hands on that girl and bring her to the lab by the waterfront.”
“What kind of lab?”
“GeneTech does genetic testing and
experimentation. My superiors wish to
study the little girl extensively.”
Yami grinned. “You cannot capture Aria Kanika
easily. Yami blood runs through her
veins. It will take tact to capture her
since she can protect herself with Shadow Magic. Eliminate her ability to gather her Shadow
Powers and she will be easily caught.”
Panik shrugged. “How do I do that?”
Yami leaned against the window of the Game Shop. “Tranquilize
her. If she becomes disoriented, she’ll
be less able to use her Shadow Powers.”
Panik chuckled. “Thank you for the
help. Putting that girl to sleep should
be no problem.”
Yami watched as Panik walked away. “Aria will soon be out of my way.”
