ANTIQUE CARDS The antique cards used in
these web pages originated in The Netherlands. They date back to the early
1900s, and were preserved in albums by the recipients, but were not discovered
until the 1990s. Cards in those early days were a major means of communication,
sending greetings, messages or congratulations.
Today with advanced
technology, these cards were scanned in Europe, transferred to me, and
subsequently incorporated with designs, backgrounds, lyrics, poems and MIDI for
web pages.
The original senders and
recipients , in their wildest dreams, could not have imagined that one day these
images of days gone by would take their place on the world wide web!
PAINTINGS
The paintings shown on
these web pages were done by my husband who gave art lessons privately as well
as in public schools during a 40-year period.
His works include portraits,
landscapes, still lifes and murals using various art mediums.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I would like to give
special thanks to my online friend Ryette, in Canada, for her
contribution of the wonderful cards dating back to the early part of the
previous century, which were subsequently used as backgrounds and images.
Her
helpful suggestions and willingness to share her knowledge of "buts"
with me, helped to enhance these pages.
To my daughter Jeannie
Lea:
I thank you for all the help you gave me by typing the poetry and
suggestions
for MIDI.
Your patience and tenacity never wavered.
You were a big
help, always ready to type and come up with an appropriate MIDI at a moment’s
notice. Your sweet expressions of praise helped me to continue when I wanted to
quit.
To my husband J.P:
Thank you for all the help you gave me with proof reading, suggesting colors,
poetry, and for extensive searches on the web for just the right MIDI that would
complement the antique card pages and your paintings. Also appreciated were
those "ooohs" and "aaahs" while I was designing a page. They
were so uplifting, as was the constant ‘tweaking’ of the computer after
changing servers for better performance.
Please note:
I have tried to give
credit to other works used on my site. However, if anyone finds something here
that belongs to you and for which you did not receive credit, please let me
know. I can give either credit or remove the item, whatever you prefer.
To my
knowledge, all MIDI and poems used here are in the public domain. If not, please
contact me byEMAIL, and I will remove them immediately.
