LYNX NAME SCHULTZ ASSISTANT GM/ DIR. OF COMMUNICATIONS |
---|
Augusta, GA - Augusta Lynx General Manager, Mike Pierson, announced today that Kyle Schultz has been named to the post of Assistant General Manager/Director of Communications.
Schultz comes to the Lynx after spending the past seven years with the Elmore-Tuttle Sports Group where he served as the Play-by-Play Voice and Director of Communications for the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks and Utah Grizzlies. During his tenure with the Tiger Sharks, Schultz was involved in all aspects of the organization and was the only staff member to stay with the club from it's inception in 1994 to it's relocation to Macon, GA this summer.
"We brought in who we felt was the best for the job," said Pierson, "Kyle's one of the most experienced broadcasters in the East Coast Hockey League and brings much more to the table than just his radio and television skills." Schultz will oversee the Lynx Communication Department and will be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the front office.
"My family is very excited to be coming to Augusta." said Schultz, "The Lynx have the best in ownership, an excellent young front office staff, Jim Burton is on the verge of building a quality hockey club, and there isn't a barn outside of the old Chicago Stadium that can parallel the atmosphere inside the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center. Having been there as a visiting broadcaster, I can tell you this; it's a hot house. I'm already bleeding blue and silver."
Schultz broadcast the Utah Grizzlies Turner Cup Championship (IHL) in 1996, and served as the East Coast Hockey Leagues' All-star game rink side reporter in 1997. He brings to Augusta an active string of 436 consecutive professional hockey broadcasts. Schultz, a Wisconsin native, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 1986 with a degree in Finance. He will be accompanied to Augusta by his wife, Allison, and their 11-month-old son, Tanner.
Augusta Lynx season tickets and partial season tickets are on sale now and can be ordered by calling (706) 724-4423. In addition, the fourth annual "FanFest" will be held this Saturday from 12-3 p.m. in the Civic Center. This years events will include roller hockey clinics, locker room sale, merchandise sale, and select a seat event.
