Avs call up Rats' Guite

The Colorado Avalanche have recalled Albany River Rats center Ben Guite.

Guite has 10 goals and 19 assists in 36 games this season with Albany. In five NHL games, he has one point coming on his first NHL goal at Detroit on Jan. 9. With the River Rats, Guite recorded a point in 15 of his past 16 games.

The Colorado Avalanche have recalled center Ben Guite, the Albany River Rats' second-leading scorer, and assigned center Brad Richardson to Albany.

Guite, 28, had eight goals and 17 assists in 33 games. He also served as an alternate captain, taking over the captain's reins during Keith Aucoin's two NHL stints with Carolina.

Richardson, 21, tallied five goals and four assists in 36 games for Colorado. A former fifth-round draft choice, Richardson played 41 games with the Avs last season.
