| Sound and Vibration The Primordial Matrix of Creation From the New Testament book of John, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". From the Essene Gospel of Peace, book four, "In the beginning was the Sound, and the Sound was with God, and the Sound was God". And again, from the sacred Vedic scriptures of the Hindus, "In the beginning was Brahman with whom was the Word, and the Word was Brahman". The Vedic Beliefs- shared by many other cultures in their own way- was that "Brahman" the primordial and creative sound of "Aum", was born out of the "Nada Brahman", the perfect stillness of the Void. Here we have three remarkably simular accounts of sound and vibration not only being the source and force of material creation, but also that sound in the most sacred sense, is indeed a direct and vibratory reflection of the mind of the Creator. Whether Goddess or God, the realization that sound is the energy of Creation as it emerges from the perfect stillness of the void is shared by countless cultures in our world! The "SO Chord" , the sound of Creation emerging through the elemental world There have been many interpretations of this original and formative sound of creation. The "SO CHORD" is a reflection of that creative and vibratory matrix. The discovery and creation of Mr. Barry Oser, the So Chord is a powerful reproduction of that creative and vibrational force emerging out of the perfect stillness of "The Void". Barry, a gifted composer and concert pianist, inventor and sound researcher, possesses such a highly refined sense of hearing and tune, that he began hearing this sound of creation, and where he heard it most clearly and strongly was in nature. After many years of listening, contemplating and meditating on this harmonic vibration emerging from the elemental world, he was finaly compelled to reproduce this incredible sound in his studio. The recorded results, the SO Chord. Musicaly, the chord is based on what is known as the interval of the fifth - Do1st, Re2nd, Me3rd, Fa4th, and "SO5th" also known as Sol. Hence , the SO Chord. In many cultures, the 5th is considered the musical interval that that most reflects the organic, elemental, and natural world. In the nealy 15 years since the creation of the SO Chord, some common and rather profound shared experiences have emerged for the many people who have listened to and worked with the SO Chord. One of the most common and beneficial effects is the listener being carried back through this emerging sound of creation, again to that perfect space of stillness and silence the Vedics referred to as the "Void". This Void is the space and place that many people who meditate are cultivating- the profoundly peaceful place of no mind, no thought, no body - and finding your way there through using the SO Chord takes no more effort than simply listening! What is "Active Listening" and "Harmonic Embodyment" ? "Harmonic Embodiment" is a process of "harmonically tuning" ones self through the cultivation of your Active Listening Practice. A simple yet effective way of explaining "Active Listening" would be that we all "Hear", yet our usual mode of hearing is selective and with out depth or detail for the most part. This would be compared to looking at a photograph of a beautiful landscape, pleasant, yet only two dimensional! Through the practice of Active Listening you are not only looking at the picture, you then begin to move into the landscape as it takes on extra dimension and form. Your listening becomes dynamic, multiimensional, and organic. The cultivation of an Active Listenng Practice can allow you to explore and experience the "Landscapes of sound" and of musical expression, where you will encounter highly organized harmonic structures of sound, emotion, and energy. It is the depth, texture, and the quality of Sacred Sound that will eventually become an alchemical form and source of food and nutrition, a powerful source of nurturance, inspiration, and creation for Body, Mind, and Spirit!
