That Old Feeling by Lilianne *** Puddles. Endless puddles in this rainy night. The road was slippery, lawns muddy as the drops of rain splattered heavily on the earth. Cold. So cold. Toshiya shivered, as he went against the chilly wind. Teeth chattering, he tried to close his icy, pale lips. His insides were burning, a startling contrast to the freezing cool that he felt in his exterior. He thrashed, needing to get out of the constraints that were wrapped around his body. Warm hands stroked his hair, whispering soft, soothing words in his ear. Something damp was put on his forehead. And his eyes shut accordingly, an ephemeral comfort washing through him. He slumped back momentarily. "Sssh....rest, Totchi.", a husky whisper calmed the blue-haired bassist. Who was this? His rescuer, his hero, his angel, his warmth. He felt the damp cloth cool his burning flesh, heard the gentle sound of water being wrung out of the towel. He opened an eye to steal a glance from his savior --- a flash of purple, and then sleep claimed him and he met darkness. *** A tantalizing aroma reached Toshiya's nostrils, causing him to wake from his needed slumber. All hallucinations departed, memories came flooding back. A petty spat with his lover, his stubbornness on staying out of their apaato, letting himself absorb the wetness of the storm, ignoring the older man's appeals for him to come back in. Baka. He sniffed and smiled in embarrassment as he looked into Kaoru's eyes. The tray of food caught his attention and he inhaled the delicious scent of the prepared delicacies. The bassist tried to sit up, and pain washed all over his body. He felt strong arms support him and prop him on the pillow, then bringing the tray in front of him. The man took a stool and sat beside him. Taking the spoon, he scooped some rice and some meat and brought it to the bassist's mouth. Toshiya smiled as he took the offered food. Everything was quiet except for sounds of breathing, and the occasional chewing and clattering of the utensils. A deep voice broke this silence. "Gomen ne, Totchi." Nani? "What are you talking about, Kaoru?" A hand caressed his cheek as the other spoke, "About yesterday...you shouldn't have gotten sick if..." "If I hadn't been stupid enough to stay outside in the rain." Toshiya laughed, shaking his head. "It was my fault, you had nothing to do with it." "But I..." Toshiya silenced his lover as he placed a finger on his lips, and grinned. Kaoru just sighed, closing his eyes as he savored the feel of the other's finger on his skin, touching his cheek. "Kaoru?" "Hmn?" The guitarist slowly opened his eyes as he gazed into his lover. "Thanks for taking care of me." "No need for thanks...not when everything I do for you is out of love..." , Kaoru whispered audibly, holding Toshiya's hands. The younger man just melt at those words, eyes sparkling and heart bursting with giddiness and love. They gazed at each other for quite a while, when the glass of water threatened to spill. They broke away, with Kaoru trying to catch the glass. He failed. He changed the sheets and putting away the tray, while the patient sat impatiently on the mattress, waiting for the other to come back from the kitchen. "Kaoru-babe, come to beeeed!", he whined. A face peeked from the doorway, an eyebrow quirked upward. "Wha--Kaoru-babe?!" The bassist giggled. "Well I'm feeling mushy today, so there!" Toshiya put his arms around the older man's waist as he neared the bed, curling up to go to sleep. "Oyasumi, Kaoru.", he yawned sleepily. "Goodnight, Totchi-babe." Eh? The purple-haired man just snickered. -Owari- Author's Notes: Pointless, huh? ^_^; Ah weelll...it's a mushy, sappy ficcie that I had to get out of my system. Gomen if it sucks!
