Museum road and Church street are joined or one could say crossed near MG Road at the junction where the New Empire theater is located. New Empire? Yes, only today it is not a theater but a collection of shops that display garments. The building is owned by the famous Kapoor family. Museum road and Church street bring back memories f my childhood. Our beloved school teachers fro St. Joseph's BH School lived there , and a few classmates too. Not forgetting some very interesting damsels. Oh! No!! they were definitely not in distress!!!! I learnt the hard way during my school days!! Some of the families that lived on Church street were Governor, Rego, D'Mellow, Pinto, Nambia, Ross, Santiago, Andrews, Pereira, Alverez to name most of them, today they have either migrated to other parts of the city or to a better place, and the road has been converted into a parking strip for MG Road, and lots of Commercial complexes have come up. The only old establishments that are still around are High Gates Hotel and Berrys Hotel.
A few years back I met a good friend Rita Noronha, and she kindly took me around to most of the houses on the two roads and I managed to get some photos. Unfortunately I didn't get a good photo if Col. Celestine's place, lets hope I can get one before the building is brought down.

Thought for the Day : " Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, For you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man's sake. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven, Fon in the manner their fathers did to the prophets. But woe to you who are rich, For you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full, For you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, For you shall mourn and weep. Woe to you when all men speak well of you, For so did they fathers to the false prophets."Holy Bible: Luke 6:20-26
