In the land of Togenkyo , where humans and demons lived peacefully , was being ruined by one who wanted Gyumao Ou to come back to life . The gods called for a monk to stop this disruption , with him , he was told to be accompanied by 3 demons as he travels to the west . The 4 main characters of this anime are : Genjo Sanzo , Son Goku , Sha Gojo and Cho Hakkai . The 4 of them really made up a great team which amazed those who watched it . The anime is likely to be based on the old tale  told 'Monkey God' and 'Journey to the west' . So why did the author brought this anime up ? For those who have watched this anime , u will know that all characters had different personalities which is ENTIRELY different from the actual 'Journey to the west' . Do monk smokes , drinks , gambles or even kills ? No , not for the old tale told , but it is a yes for Gensomaden Saiyuki . The author change the whole story plus each characters' personality which made the anime original and interesting . Of course , there will not be a lack of humor . Goku and Gojo with an addition of Sanzo made the anime series better ! Even gods from the heaven seemed to be much more mean and evil than those demons mentioned . Unbelievable ? It is true that this anime is truely fabulous . It will be a pity if u miss Gensomaden Saiyuki . I highly recommend this anime !!
Is Saiyuki Gaiden related to Gensomaden Saiyuki ? It is . Saiyuki Gaiden tells the story of Sanzo , Goku , Hakkai and Gojo's previous life . Like the actual Journey to the west , the anime actually focus on this too . In Saiyuki Gaiden , it tells you about Goku's childhood and the reasons for sending the other 3 into the cycle of reincarnation to become Sanzo , Hakkai and Gojo and why Goku was being imprisoned for 500 years in a stone prison . In Saiyuki Gaiden , they mainly focus on the 4 of them and Nataku . You will also get to know how Goku and Nataku developed their relationship and why Nataku seems to be reactionless later on the anime . Something new and old too ^^ !
I am a great fan of anime ! A few of my favorite animes are : CCS , Fushigi Yuugi , Yu-gi-oh , Vandread , Slam Dunk , Beyblade , Crayon shin-chan , Flame of Recca , Akazukin Cha Cha .... and many more . But I never came across an anime so 'copied' yet original like Gensomaden Saiyuki . This anime was introduced by my brother who tend to love actions' and humorous' anime .... I was struck by the characters and how different it seems from the actual 'Journey to the west' . Thus , I begged one of my friend to help me search for this anime and eventually , she found it and I bought it back . After watching the first few epsiodes , I realised that the story is so unpredictable and the characters are all so beautiful , attractive , funny and amazing !  I once thought that this is a boring anime cause I have watched 'Journey to the West' for more than enough , but it prove me wrong though ^^ . I believed that lots of girls will fall for this anime due to the story plus those imperfect characters in it . The good news is that there is a third season of Gensomaden Saiyuki coming out soon . The producers are still cracking there brains on the third season though . I think that the new season will be out after a year or so .... I can't wait ! And for those who love the songs sang in this anime , the new theme song is 'The way to Paradise ' sang by Nomiyama masaki . I got this song download in my mp3 too ^^ ! I was quite disappointed that there is very few webmasters/mistress out there creating sites delicated to this anime ..... But , whatever the reason is , you are getting a lost if u miss Gensomaden Saiyuki ! I highly recommend this anime !
