Lebanon itself is one of the oldest and most interesting countries on Earth. Known for its many contributions to humanity, such as the alphabet, the first boat, as well as being the oldest Christian nation on the planet, Lebanon also has many other interesting points. The name "Lebanon", has been around for roughly 4000 years now, and is the only Asian African country that has no desert. The city of Byblos in Lebanon is one of the oldest cities in the world, and is also where the name "BIBLE" comes from. See the connection?
For Christianity, Lebanon was the place where Jesus Christ performed his first miracle. Lebanon is mentioned 75 times in the Old Testament, as well as the word Cedar. According to legend, the people say that the cedars of Lebanon were planted by God's own hands. This is why cedars are sometimes referred to as "God's Trees."
Christianity is the majority religion consituting 40% of the total pupulation, which is the largest of any Arabic speaking nation. There are 16 other religious communities located in Lebanon alone, such as Islam and Druze. Lebanon has three main languages: Arabic, French, and English. All three are either used individually, or sometimes people may switch to another language during a conversation.

Canada has been recognized internationally as one of the best places in the world to live. Canada itself is based on immigration; A multicultural society, providing knowledge and cultural traditions from around the world. Over the years, this great nation has contributed greatly to the international community. For starters, Canada invented basketball and hockey, which are played all over the world. The Canadarm used by NASA, and without it they can't really get much done. Canada has also been known for its international peace efforts, and overall kindness.
How can we describe a Canadian? Some people define Canadians as unarmed Americans with Health Care, I kid you not. Although there is alot of stereotype about Canada, such as lack of running water, living in igloos, saying "eh" alot etc, some of these stereotypes can be greatly exagerated. First of all, in some parts, its been known to go up as high as 50 degrees celsius in the summer. And logically there is no way an igloo can stay frozen in Toronto, niether polar bears roaming around and stuff like that. Then again many different nations are under the pressure from their own stereotypes.
When it comes to love of one's country, Canada show's its patriotism without hesitation. Whether it be in hockey, or war, we always show our support for those representing our country. With a population of over 30 million people, Canada remains one of the greatest countries to live in. Also being home to the world's largest undefended border and the world's second largest land mass, Canada has an abundance of natural resources. The two official languages are English and French primarily. |
