Let’s Do the Time Warp Again
By Sally Morem
My computer somehow picked up the echoes of a future debate between candidates for the 2012 Presidential race.  Must’ve been a time warp…or something.  Here are some outtakes from the debate:

• Why are we still in Darfur?  We need to finish the job in Iraq!
• President Jeb Bush is an idiot.  That’s why Darfur’s such a disaster.
• If I’m elected President, we will withdraw our forces immediately, if not sooner..
• The people of Darfur don’t want us there:  Pull!  Out!  Now!
• The world hates us because we invaded the sovereign nation of Darfur.
• Darfur is a civil war; we can’t possibly win a civil war.
• Terrorists are finding it easy to recruit suicide bombers worldwide because people angry at us for killing Africans in Darfur.
• We are only in Darfur for the oil.
• President Jeb Bush is truly an evil Machiavellian spawn of the Devil; he’s now eyeing Chad.
• Darfur is not worth the lives of the five brave American soldiers we’ve lost there in the last three years.
• Darfur has stretched our military to the breaking point.  Time to reinstate the draft.
• We must show the people of Darfur that we mean them no harm.  End this immoral war NOW!
• All we are saying is give peace a chance.
• Imagine there’s no Darfur.
• We can’t do this alone.  We need the world’s sanction for our efforts in Darfur.  Let’s go to the UN and get a Security Council resolution against genocide.
• When I voted to give President Jeb Bush the power to stop genocide in Darfur, I didn’t vote for him to send our soldiers there to fight and die!
• If I had been in the Senate during that vote, I certainly wouldn’t have voted for this illegal war!
• Bush frightens me to death!
• There is no War on Terror, and it’s not going on in Darfur!
• Darfur means the End of the American Empire!  Hurrah!
