Who am I?

Hi !  For those who are yet to know me, I am Sambit. Born and brought up in Bhubaneswar "the city of temples", I have till now passed through many temples of education too. After graduating in Medicine (from SCB Medical College, Cuttack, India), I tried to become a Psychiatrist (at PGIMER, Chandigarh). After a month's stint there, I decided that I would do something more challenging...like getting some engineering education..and I went to (arguably) the best place in the world to do that. I completed my Masters in Medical Science and Technology at the I.I.T., Kharagpur, in the pioneering batch of the interdisciplinary research-oriented course for docs. I am now pursuing my PhD at the National University of Singapore, doing some interesting research on Tissue Engineering of tendons and ligaments. Always  inclined to take up new challenges, I love to do what I enjoy....and now am enjoying what I do!! What more does a man want?

My Family:

Hmmm.., I have a very loving family!  My parents have been a constant inspiration and my sisters very supportive in all my endeavours. My father is a mechanical engineer and mother a home-maker. My eldest sister works with Open Learning Systems, a leading NGO in Orissa, working for challenged children. The next sister is a software engineer now in USA. The sister just elder to me is also working for social upliftment, which my state, Orissa, needs desperately!

Interests and Hobbies:

I have always been interested in playing all types of games (though haven't have any extra-ordinary achievement in any !). I enjoy drawing instant sketches of people and still-arts. I am fond of and have been a "long time learner" of lawn tennis, swimming and skating :).  Some of my other interests like photography, computer graphics and web-designing!
