Mel

Law from Victoria University of Wellington. Currently taking
papers for Masters of Public Policy at Victoria University, School of
Goverment.
She is currently the Economics Officer for the British
High Commission in Wellington (which also covers Samoa and the Cooks).
She provides macro and micro-economic reporting but also use a
lot of her economics knowledge in analysing and reporting on key policy
developments in other areas including social policy, education,
environment and health, in New Zealand for the UK Government.
She's also responsible for providing briefings and organising visit
programmes for UK Ministers and other visiting UK officials.
Her previous jobs include Executive Assistant/Research Officer at Prime
Minister's Dept in Samoa, and a summer-time position at the Central
Bank of Samoa.

Tasha graduated from Hawaii Pacific University
in Honolulu, Hawaii with a BA International Studies (Magna Cum Laude -
Upper Second Class Honors) in May 1998. She returned to Samoa to work
for the Prime Minister's Department as Research Officer/Executive
Assistant from the beginning to mid 1999 and then transferred to the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Staff Training & Scholarships Division)
shortly after. In January 2001 she was posted as Second Secretary and
later promoted to First Secretary to the Samoa High Commission in
Wellington, New Zealand. She completed her Masters in Diplomacy and
Trade at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia in October 2001 and
is hoping to commence her PhD studies late 2005.
Tasha is nearing the 4-year period of her
diplomatic posting and can't wait to return home to Samoa to be with her
husband and family.
