My Christmas Holiday - here are some more photos of the week
Lots of love, the deepest bear in the world
Over Christmas I was in the Red Sea, diving off Hurghada with my PA Sam and her mates Sue and Andy. They were not doing much deep stuff so I went to the pub and made a new friend - tech diver Mark Mitchell. Mark later took me on my deepest dive so far to 101m. Here is the story
The new record was established in a special kind of bear freedive discipline developed for the occasion. The technique simply involves finding a tech diver who is planning to go deep (no wussy PADI 30m divers, Deepest Bear wanted the real thing) and hiding in their pocket seconds before the dive. I had heard through the grapevine that Techies nearly always carry a spare mask and I am about the same size as a mask.. so I simply sneaked onto the boat, chose Mark for his smiley face and did a swap when he wasn't looking. As he jumped in I breathed up and found myself soon at 101m no worries. Stuck my head out at the bottom to give Mark a smile (which he put down to narcosis) and then we came up. The whole dive took 91minutes, no problem for a bear with a 2 hour breathhold time! Of course, being amongst techies a few beers were in order and hot bath to celebrate. Here are some of the photos. Big Bear Hugs and thanks to Mark and the guys at Divers Lodge and Emperor Divers in Hurghada for making DB so welcome. xx

Thanks to my PA Sam for taking me to Hurghada, for some reason she didn't want to come to 101m but had some fun on her own freedives too.
