In Canada with Mandy Rae Cruickshank Looking for Bin Laden with Loic and Guillaume
Lots of love, the deepest bear in the world
This summer I have been mighty busy flying around the world to help international champions of freediving break some records. I started out with the girls - Mandy Rae Cruickshank in Canada and Tanya Streeter in Turks and Caicos and finally I went to Afghanistan on a long adventure with Loic Leferme (aka The Deepest Man in the World) and Guillaume Nery (The Deepest Young Gun in the World).
The new record was established in Deepest Bear's favourite discipline of No Limits. He was strapped on to Tanya Streeter's sled in Turks and Caicos and accompanied her down to an incredible 122m. Even more incredible, Tanya than proceeded to leave the sled behind and swim/pull up without him. Luckily for Deepest Bear, his best breathhold time is now around 3 hours so he remained chilled and smiling at the bottom until Tanya had surfaced, celebrated and they eventually remembered to pull the sled up. DB would like to say a BIG THANKS to Paul and Tanya for putting up with him and putting him up in a luxury hotel on the glorious Turks and Caicos islands.
Waving from Tanya's sled! strapped on tight.
Before heading off business class (Fedex!) to Tanya's beach hut, Deepest Bear flew first class from his adventures in Cyprus at the Sony Freediver Open Classic, to Vancouver. Staying with Kirk and Mandy Rae proved a little too serious for DB who was in need of a holiday after all that diving and decided to party chez Brent Pascall instead.
Misbehaving after all that training in Cyprus...
Luckily Deepest Bear had got the beer, bunnies and cigarettes out of his system long enough to enter the CAFA National Competition as the only British competitor. However smoking is definitely not recommended for freedivers - Deepest Bear's breath hold was down from 3 hours to a mere 5 and half minutes... although there is rumour he just came up then to keep Mandy Rae happy. DB also took the chance to check out the form of Canada's breath hold genius, Luc Gosselin. Here are the pics

Deepest Bear then went on to Afghanistan with Guillaume Nery and Loic Leferme. Together they explored the most remote parts of Afghanistan with some nice people from UNESCO. Deepest Bear learned to speak better French and fluent Afghani. Loic filmed the whole thing for a documentary and they are now arguing over who gets top billing - Deepest Man or Deepest Bear. At the end of the trip they went for lots of dives in an incredible lake known as Bandamir. No one knows how deep it is, what lives in it and what's at the bottom so the aim was to find out.

Wow what a Lake!
Deepest Bear is now back in the UK, if you would like him to join you for a record or another freediving adventure, please leave a message on his guestbook or mail his PA.
