Santara Park is now situated 1/2 hr
north from the historic little township of Nanango in
S.E. Qld after moving from Northern Rivers NSW 4 yrs ago where my
husband & I had bred & shown Arabian horses since 1984 .
My earliest memories are of the gentle Clydesdale horses that I use to sit on for hours, content to chat to them & give them hugs, watching the dirt turning over while they ploughed the paddocks, as they travelled up & down on their long monotonous journey each day, rather than go & play with the other kids. |
|
That came to an abrupt end when we moved
to the city & I was sent off to boarding school for the remainder of
my school years, & then married soon after. It would be many years
before I was able to fulfil my childhood dreams. When in 1980 I
re-married a wonderful kind man & mentioned to him that I had always
wanted to have horses, he simply replied, "well, lets go & get some
horses then".

We started with two Appaloosa's & living in a duplex on Gold Coast, we kept them on agistment nearby for a short time where I would go & ride them, before we looked around & found a lovely 5acre property nestled in the hills in the shadow of Mt Warning. | |
In 1984 I
began to get very interested in Arabians, & we began doing stud crawls, by this
time I had Arabitis quite severely & our family of Arabians grew as we
began breeding & showing them having considerable success with one
particular mare SP Sarah.

In 1994 I also purchased a many times
Supreme Champion Palouse mare, Oak Hill Storm Echo, who out of 37
Shows was awarded 39 firsts, 30 Champions, 5 Grand Champions, 3
Supreme Halter Exhibits of Show (one of these being over 8
other different Breed Champions) 6 Res. Ch, 6 second place & her
lowest ever placing, 2 thirds.

In 1993 I was diagnosed with a chronic
illness for which there is no cure, so we slowly sold the Arabians I
loved so much, & I bought a few Miniatures, as I could not cope with
the idea of not having horses in my life again, & then of course,
could not resist breeding them. At least I didn't have to break in &
ride them all anymore, & there wasn't as much manure to pick up each
day (lol) so the workload was not so heavy. But I miss riding my
15.2hh Arabian stallion (Sakkara) more than words can say.

My husband died from cancer 3 yrs ago,
leaving me as sole minder, but my health is declining now & sadly
I can no longer look after my horses properly & need to start
looking for new homes for them all & give them up once again. My
fervent prayer is that they will find kind & knowledgeable homes
where they are much loved.
I hope you enjoy cruising through my
website & looking at my horses, if you see one you're genuinely
interested in or have any other enquiries please email or phone
me.....cheers!
