Founded in 1939, the Sao Paulo Garden Club is an international group of members based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Its aims are to share and stimulate interest in horticulture and floral design.
At present, the club is comprised of four active working groups. Each meets separately once a month and the whole club meets jointly four times a year for General Meetings which are held in February, May, August and November. Active members are expected to attend at least six meetings a year. Prospective members are asked to attend two consecutive meetings of the working group plus one General Meeting before being proposed to the Executive Council for approval.
The Annual Flower Show occurs in the spring and is the most important event of the year. Open to the public, this year's 70th Anniversary show will be Oct. 24-25 , 2009 at the Brazilian British Cultural Center. Follow the link for more details.
On April 25-26, 2009, there will be a Standard Flower Show open to the public organized by the Melissa Group in Cotia.
The Sao Paulo Garden Club is affiliated with National Garden Clubs, Inc. in the USA, with NAFAS and the Royal Horticultural Society in Great Britain, with the Buenos Aires Garden Club in Argentina and the Garden Club of Uruguay.
