I made Editha (pronounced with a short "u" sound at the beginning and a long "i" sound) in 1972 the year I got married. She was made from a pattern in Edith Flack Ackley's book Dolls to Make for Fun and Profit. This is a marvelous book written in the '30's. I had borrowed it from the library, but have since purchased a copy from ebay. Editha was named for both Mrs. Ackley and a former cook at our high school cafeteria.
Sara is wearing a dress that was on a little $1 porcelain doll from Dollar General. |
