Mary Ann
When I was about 13, I decided that I wanted to sew for dolls. I had read Hitty by Rachel Field and I was smitten. I started bugging all my relatives for old dolls. My grandpa's aunt Jeannette found this compo doll for me in the attic of her garage. She is kind of crazed and her wig is a bit thin, but I love her just the same.
Mary Ann and Sara are sitting next to a crazy quilt tea cozy made for me by the Canadian members of the crazyquilt mailing list that I started in 1997. They all sent fabrics and trims to one of the members who pieced the tea cozy and then they sent it around round robin fashion to be embellished. It took nearly a year to complete the project, and these dear ladies kept it a secret the whole time. They also wrote a journal explaining the whole process.
