Wendy Alexander |
Wendy might also be known as the find of the year. I was in a small thrift store that is open only two days a week. I was on my way out when I spotted her. "That looks like a Madame Alexander face," I said to myself going over to pick her up. Sure enough the dress she was wearing at the time said Gainesboro, Madame Alexander. With the 25 cent price tag on her, I didn't ask any questions. The store owner remarked, "The dress alone is worth that." I couldn't have agreed more! Not being very knowledgable about Madame Alexander dolls, I did some research on the internet when I got home. It turned out that Wendy is indeed a MA Wendy doll, but her dress originally came on a Cissette doll. No wonder she looked like such a waif. The dress was way too big for her and her hair was a mess. In the photo with Sara she is wearing some clothes that I made for my little Effanbee dolls. Sara is wearing a knock off of Tonner's Sophie Hope outfit. I plan to eventually do the embroidery on it so that it's a better match. The cowgirl outfit is the one Wendy has decided suits her the best. It came on Tonner's Cowgirl Kripplebush doll. |
My little Effanbee Ilsa wound up with the Gainesboro Cissy outfit that Wendy was wearing when she arrived here. It fits her much better than it did Wendy. |
