INTRODUCTION | |||||||||
In chapter four of Adventures in Japanese, you learned several hobby words. When Japanese students have free-time, they do many of the same things you do: listen to music, watch tv, and play video games. But what do Japanese students do when they are not having fun? Each day, Japanese students attend school for about the same amount of time as you do. However, once they are done with school, many Japanese students don't have the luxury of going home, having a snack, and relaxing before they start their homework. Many Japanese students attend cram school or jyuku. Jyuku are after-school private schools that students (or their parents) can elect to attend for assistance with core subjects, supplemental lessons in art, drama, and culture, or for help with passing entrance exams for the next level of education. |
