TED POLHEMUS
BIO
Ted Polhemus studied anthropology first at Temple University in Philadelphia and later at University College London. Since then he was made his living as writer, photographer, teacher, inventor of games and guest on radio and TV.  He is interested in all aspects of popular culture and in showing how the seemingly insignificant things in life are actually amongst the most important.
He is co-editor of THE BODY AS A MEDIUM OF EXPRESSION,  the editor of SOCIAL ASPECTS OF THE HUMAN BODY and the co-author of FASHION AND ANTI-FASHION and POP STYLES.  He was written or taken photographs for NEW SOCIETY, VOGUE, TATLER, THE SUNDAY TIMES, THE OBSERVER and host of other publications.  He appears regularly on both BBC and commercial radio and television and has spent the last year writing scripts for the  BODY STYLES TV series for Channel Four.
LIke everyone else he would like to be writting fiction somewhere  near the Mediterranean. Meanwhile he  wishes someone would ask him to write a regular column of sharp observations of modern life or to host a chat show for radio or TV.  His hobbies include listening to and playing jazz and blues, watching junk TV and eating pizza.  He dislikes onions, disco music, people who say they don't care about their appearance and what is happening to London ( where he lives with two cats ).  -  BODY STYLES / 1988
