There was only one thing Ian ever wanted from life and that was a baby of his own, after spending years looking after his nephews and neices, Ian just adored children and no matter what problems Ian had he would always find time to have a play or a laugh with children, My daughter Emily saw Ian as the dad she never had she idolised him, whenever he came in the garden or house she would run and throw her arms around him, in the year 2000 Ian found out he was to be a dad his self he was so chuffed and wore the proud smile for months, always telling people he was so pleased it was all he ever wanted, on February 9th 2001 Ian's wish was fulfilled when Ians wife karen gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Both Ian and Karen were overjoyed, they named this little boy Connor-Reece.
Ian idolised this little bundle of joy and would take any oppotunity to show him off and would boast to all who would listen, Connor was Ians life and even though Ian had his own child he still always found time for Emily, one day when me and Emily was going to Karate we saw Ian, Karen and Connor coming towards us on their way to our house we stopped and talked and I made googly noices at Connor in his pram, Emily had ran into Ian's arms as she always did, he bent down and under Connors pram was a teddy that Ian had got her from Connor they never had alot of money but he would give you his last penny if he thought it would help, Emily still to this day treasures that teddy,,... On connors 1st birthday we held a little party for him just family Ian and Karen had spoilt Connor rotten, Ian was so proud of his little fat man, Ian had always spoke of being a daddy, when Ian was around Connor he was so happy, his own little boy, his own pride and joy, 2 weeks after connors 1st birthday Ian became ill and passed away very suddenly, the last words he spoke to my mam was to ask her to bring his son in to hospital to see him, little did we know a few hours later Ian would be gone and Connor would never see his devoted daddy again, Connor will never know Ian like I do, he will never recall memories of his dad, all he can do is look at photos and I suppose when he is older dream of what his daddy may have been like, he will only know what he's told from us, and belive me Connor will know what a very special daddy Ian is, I promised Ian I would look after his little boy, and till the day I die I will treat him as my own, Ian's legacy lives on in his special little boy Connor, Ian will stay with us all forever, and live eternally in our hearts,....
