The Dannevirke Scandinavian Club leads the 'Danish Pioneers' in the Dannevirke 125th Jubilee Parade, which was held in the main street of Dannevirke (State Hwy 3) on Saturday, 11 October 1997. The celebration commemorated 125 years since the arrival in the town of its first Scandinavian settlers. These people arrived at Napier a few hours apart on Sunday, 15 September 1872, aboard the ships Ballarat and Høvding. Exactly a month later they arrived in Dannevirke. (Photos: Val Burr, P.N.)
