C.L. Charity Challenge with Maria by Maria Lits |
It is such a hot and humid day here in NY and I keep hearing the words from an old song play over and over again in my head "Summer Time and the Living is Easy". No I don't have heat stroke but I do have thoughts of summertime crochet and how it can be used to get motivated to crochet large items, but it is the perfect time to work on smaller items for charity. While you are enjoying some fun in the sun, you can also be creating an item for someone in need and getting a jump start on some of the upcoming Charity Challenges and even have a chance to win a prize. The Charities being sponsored for the CL CAT Charity Challenges for the next couple of months can be the perfect inspiration for your summer crochet fun. I can't imagine lugging a large crochet project to the beach or to the pool or to the sights around the world but....I know in my heart no crocheter could ever leave home without a project to enjoy. Just think how easy it would be to grab a hook, a simple pattern or create your own as you go and a bit of yarn and tuck them into your travel bag or tote, you would be ready for anything. This is how I see the summer so lets put our imaginations to the test and close our eyes and.... Picture yourself sitting by the pool or on the beach sipping and umbrella decorated drink, and crocheting cancer caps for Kids for July's Charity Hailey's Head Huggers or baby booties and baby hats for August's sponsored Charities of God's Littlest Angels Orphanage and/or Faith, Hope and Charity Stitches Inc. You will be the talk of wherever you are, definately a conversation starter, so prepare your answer for when that tall, dark, handsome stranger comes up to you and says "Hi, is that a ball of yarn in your... "oops I got off track here, it was that umbrella drink and the sun that did me in. So for now I will end it by saying have a safe, wonderful summer and think charity when you are planning to crochet your summer days away. |
