My Finds

You're probably telling yourself that this is a load of crap and you'll never find anything.  Listed below is some of the stuff I have found recently, some of which I no longer have.  At right are thumbnail photos of some items.  Click them for a larger image.
-   Hose Caddy.  Got this on 2/27/04.  Like brand new, and very nice looking. Replaces the old rickety one which also came from the garbage.  This is very sturdy, and the top handle can fold down

-   Eureka Cordless Vacuum.  You can see everything laid out there: handle, battery, vacuum, and recharger.  I found this in the neighborhood.  What was wrong with it?  The pulley that drives the agitator had come off its track.  Once I put it back, which took about two minutes, I had a perfectly running vacuum cleaner.

-   Loveseat Recliner.  This is the best thing I've found by far.  Manufactured in 2000, the only problem was a dark smudge on the corner nearest in the picture.  A little soap and it's as good as new.  Can you see where the mark was?  Both sides recline, it's fully functional and very comfortable.

-  Computer.  A stamp inside says 1991, and the hard drive is from the same year.  A card inside is stamped 1989.  Whoever had it last smashed up the innerds, messing with the large disk drive.  The 3.5" disk drive doesn't appear to work, and I'm having trouble getting the hard drive to work. Still, it's got a lot of screws, some LEDs and buttons that can be used.  The rest is probably destined for a dumpster.
UPDATE: Dumped

Stereo System.  A $300 system (current value) thrown out and picked up by me.  From top to bottom: Dual cassette deck, CD player, SAE Two T6 Digital AM/FM Tuner and A7 Integrated Amplifier.  Everything is functional and looks great!

-   Old Computer with keyboard.  I got this a while back and gutted it.  A majority of it found itself dumped in a dumpster somewhere when I was through with it.  I've still got the keyboard, but it's old and has the wrong connection to hook up to a newer computer.

-
A beach chair.  Good condition...it gets the job done.  Not much difference between one you find by the side of the road and one you buy in Walmart for $20.

-   Computer Monitor.  The monitor functioned perfectly except there was no red color.  The red pin was missing from the plug.  I had meant to fix it, but ended up dumping it by mistake.

-   Two Golf Bags and
Assorted Clubs.  The golf bags are nothing important, but the CLUBS!  A few are worth a lot!
UPDATE: I picked up another golf bag, this one much nicer than the other two in almost new condition.

-  Chainsaw.  Sadly this was thrown away accidentally.  The only problem with it was the rope attached to the starter had ripped inside the casing and needed to be reattached.

-  Frito-Lay Packaging Plant.  I almost forgot this one.  The plant has since shut down or moved, but up until about two years ago, this plant packaged and delivered Frito-Lay brand chips.  Lays, Fritos, Doritos...you know the kind.  Anyway, the chips that passed their expiration date were thrown away - in their boxes - behind the place.  So we would get entire boxes of Nacho Doritos, or Sour Cream and Onion Lays.  Occaisionally, there would be some of those variety packs with the little bags of chips.  It was great, lots of Frito-Lay products being given away for free.  And the chips were fine.  They weren't stale, just past expiration.  What I found was that they didn't stay fresh as long once you opened the bag compared to one that you buy from the store.  But with a whole box full, it didn't really matter.  You could just open up a bag and eat what you could.  It's a shame the homeless didn't know about this.  But I'm rambling.  Point is, it was a good find.
