it is a gay bar smack dab in the industrial area of modesto, at the
heart of the central valley. it is hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and
modesto sucks. but that doesn't mean that there isn't a live music audience
here that likes to have a good time and catch local bands and touring bands
and drink and be merry.
it is a large bar, with three main areas- one stage area near the main bar,
the recreational area with couches, air hocky, and pool, and another stage as well as the outdoor area with tables and smoking and drinks, etc.
it is a rad, clean bar, cleaner then any i have ever worked for. . . it is
owned by people who really help out the bands when they can. i can perhaps offer a place to crash, some free budwiser on tap,donations, plus if we draw a crowd and the bar turns a profit, a decent share of that wealth. usually the bands get $50, and the drink tix situation seems to change weekly. right now there are none, but we can work something out.
but i cannot promise anything but a good time.
i used to book the dirty duck in modesto, a shitty dive bar that held 80
people. the capacity of the mustang is 200 and it is much bigger and cleaner
and they have a fully stocked bar, working toilets, and drag queens. it is a
drama free zone with no fights to report, and a laid back atmopshere. the
best types of bands for the modesto area are either quirky (we have had
xbxrx, space ballerinas, deerhoof, vaz, replicator, herc, and many other good bands through here) or indie pop ala locals fiver, earlimart, grandaddy, and other more mellow, song oriented bands . . .
we don't do cover bands. why bother?
