Victory! |
A description, in poem form, of the emotions and feelings of a Redskins fan at the N.Y. Giants game on November 1, 1998. Prior to this game, the Redskins were 0-7. Victory! At last thine sweet head has turned our way! Our winless streak no more today! How sweet it is, this fruit to taste; Now celebrate, we all, in haste! The Giants, from New York, hath came down Upon Raljon, our little town. The fans didst rally 'round the stage For this spectacle for this glorious age. At last a "W" on our slate; An ecstatic mood it did create. How wondrous is this great feeling; No longer is our team reeling! 'Tis one win, one win for Washington; We've barely a week for our fun, For next Sunday we go off in our fight To play Arizona with all our might. But, alas, we are jinxed no more; We finally, against an opponent, score more. Rejoice! Be glad! Ye nations hear - Who at the Redskins poked and jeered: DC's arrived in the NFL - Through all damnation, through Satan and hell. It's only one victory, but, in my view, I'd elate over it after 9 weeks, wouldn't you? P.S. A stanza to this poem I add, The mood again is somber and sad; Get your barf bags out, folks, this'll make you sick - The Cardinals just beat us on a last second kick. |
