Danielle Schmitt holds a BSED in Art Education from Central Connecticut State University. Her specialization is Photography, working in mostly Medium Format, Digital, and Alternative Processes. In Jan 2008, she went to Italy to photograph architecture in Rome, Florence, and Siena. Most of her other artwork from paintings, drawings, sculpture, and mosaics is directly influenced by her study abroad experience in Japan in Spring 2005. Themes that are concurrent in her artwork include images from her neighborhood, composite images, emotive portraits, texture, reflection, and countless nostalgic references to her time spent in Osaka, Japan at Kansai Gaidai University. She comes from a village called Northford, which is located somewhere between rural and suburbia CT. She spends her free time with her family and friends taking photographs and enjoying life's little twists and turns. She started the Japanese Pop Culture Club at Central Connecticut State University in Spring 2004 and served as President until Spring 2005. The club still exists today and is now known as the Asian Pop Culture Club due to an effort to promote all aspects rather than just Japanese. She is also known as an on-air talent "DJ Sassy" with WFCS 107.7FM, Central Connecticut's local college radio station. Her show, "Extreme Eclectic", is now broadcast every Saturday from 10am-12pm. |
