His father Steven(Turkey)Adkins worked at Gore's Autobody as an autobody technician and did some mechanical work as well. He built a race car that he ran on an ol country boy, back yard race track on Hix Mountain. At the age of 13 or 14 Scoob's dad put him in the car. Scoob got his first win on that mountain in what the guys called the Food Stamp 500.
At the age of 16 Scoob began racing at Princeton Raceway. His father had to sign a waiver to get him in the field. Scoob got his first win there in 2000. He also ran at Beckley Motor Speedway and has one win there. He went on to win 7 more times at Princeton until 2002 when he had 16 top fives and won 11 races to earn him the street stock championship in 2002. He didn't even get to compete in the last race due to his father having a life threating car wreck but is getting better all the time.
Scoob attended school at Bellepoint Elementry, then Summers Middle School, then finished at Summers High School. He has 1 daughter(Cameron) and 1 son(Brandon)with his soul companion Melisa Miller.
When asked what his future racing plans were he said" I am ready for bigger and better things if money or oppertunity exist."
