Scoobs dad Steven(Turkey)Adkins was in a bad car wreck on September 15th 2002. He was in ICU for 28 days on a ventilater until they moved him out of there to a regular room. He was in that room for 5 days till he had a relapse and was placed back in ICU. He finally moved back out to a regular room a week later and stayed there until they moved him to a rehabilitation center in Charleston WV. on 13 November 2002. He has been there ever since. He has had alot of ups and downs but is doing ok at this time. He got to come home for 5 days during Thanksgiving and 18 days during Christmas. Everyone got their Christmas wish that he could eat some Christmas dinner with them. He can finally eat solid foods. Although he doesn't eat a lot, it is a lot better than nothing but the nutrition drinks they gave him through a feeding tube in his stomack. Although he still has to have that for a while longer. He has come a very long way but has a long way to go still. He is doing real good with his left hand and arm but needs a lot of work on his right. He may have a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder. He can't do anything with his legs from the waist down but his nerves in that area are still alive and says he can feel some touch and hot water from time to time so there is a lot of reason to believe he will get it all back. Other than that he is strong and in great spirits and shows no signs of giving up at all. Everyone in the family would like to thank everyone for the prayers, donations, cards, visits and calls. Your thoughtfulness has helped everyone get through this rough and difficult time and has kept them strong and bonding. |

As of 2-29-04 Turkey is still going strong. He is taking more therapy and working to get more strength in his upper body. He is very strong willed and will do great. We need to keep up our prayers for him. He looks forward to being back on top of turn 2 again this year watching the races. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. |
