"Who is Carl?" is a question many students at South Hills ask when they hear his name. Carl is none other than one of our school custodians who cleans and maintains our buliding. He usually drives around in his small golf cart, wearing his beany and sporting his goatee, making sure SHHS looks neat, but has it ever crossed your mind for just a small minute as to what he might be like? What he likes or dislikes? Probably not, but worry no more; I have taken the time to do it for you. I'm shining my spotligght on Carl, our school custodian. Here is a brief interview I had with him.

Where are you from?
"I was born in Souxi City, Iowa."

How old are you?
"47 year old."

Are you married?
"No, I am not."

How about children?
"Yes, I have a daughter."

Do you play any musical instruments?
"No, I don't."

What are your interests?
"Running. I ran cross country."

What do you like to do in your spare time?
"I like to fix old cars."

What would you like the students to do to make your job easier?
"I would like them to do what they do at home, clean after themselves."

What do you like and dislike about South Hills High School?
"I like it because it's fun. I have no dislikes."

If you had a chance to travel anywhere, where would you go?
"I have traveled wround the world: Panama, Puerto Rico, Alaska, Europe when I served in the Army. I would stay here in Texas, because it's tax free!"

I think that no matter what your job is, we all deserve to be in the spotlight once in a while. Not all jobs are a piece of cake where you just get to dress nicely and talk to people all day. Carl's job is having to put up with our mess and having to clean up after us, something we should be doing ourselves. In conclusion, every job is important... believe it or not.
