Harrison's Flowers (2002) **** of **** Rated: R Brutally realistic story of the trip into the 1991 genocidal Yugoslav civil war to rescue a supposedly dead photojournalist. This is harsher than "We Were Soldiers" although not as well done, but bring tissues & a bucket. The filming locations and sets were extremely molested environments. Once out of NYC, there may be more people as corpses & becoming corpses then there are alive. Of course even the living are dead in a war of such hatred and insanity. This was especially sickening since it was based on a true story, and the war crimes trials against Milosovic are goin on right now. The survivors of the battle portrayed in "We Were Soldiers" have all been coming out to say how accurately it was made. As intense as the battle between soldiers was, the sheer barbarism of hateful civil war was far worse to see on the screen. |
