The northeastern province of South Korea is Kangwon. It is a touristy area where many South Koreans go for vacation. The print I saw was the only one made with English subtitles, and it is fairly scratched up near the ends of the reels, yet still fairly watchable. Synopsis: The film follows a few people through their lives as themselves and their loose relationships with each other. We see them acting irresponsibly as they meander on with their lives. They each leave Kangwon without having really improving themselves. Quick Review: The scenery is certainly interesting, and there is a good sense of place in this story. The pointlessness of this story hurts the overall effect, which is a shame because the director clearly put effort into capturing the moments along the way. The lack of coherence in the story line hurt the chances of telling a good story, but the end does bring some meaning to the emptiness. |
