Garth Kemp |
This is from the KABC-7 Los Angeles bio for Mr. Kemp: Garth Kemp joined the ABC7 Eyewitness News team in August l998. He currently provides weather reports for ABC7 Eyewitness News on the weekends at 5, 6 & 11pm. Garth is also the co-host of ABC7's award-winning "Eye on LA" program and he is a feature reporter for "Eyewitness News This Morning". In 1978, while attending Metro State University in Denver, Garth stopped at a local radio station promotion and on a whim, asked for a job. Hearing his booming voice, the station manager hired him on the spot for weekends and fill-in! Within 2 years he was offered the evening show on WAPP-FM New York, the most listened to Rock station in the country, at the time. After 2 years in The Big Apple, (and winding up on top of the ratings!), he set back out to fulfilling his dream of living everywhere around this country and experiencing all it has to offer. KQRS-FM in Minneapolis, where the cold winters started him thinking more and more about going home. And so, in October 1997, after nineteen years away, Garth grabbed the brass ring, afternoon drivetime at our sister station 95.5 KLOS-FM, and came home. This show, (which includes 'The 5 O'clock Funnies'), his charity work in the community, and his appearances as a standup and host at The Laugh Factory in Hollywood brought him to the attention of ABC7. His other interests include working out, mountain biking, body surfing, and spending time with his Mom and his 2 dogs. For Garth, the opportunity to work at the station he grew up watching is a dream come true. |
Garth Kemp co-hosts Eye On L.A. with Tanya Memme. Ms. Memme also happens to co-host "Customer News" with the handsome Matt Gallant on DirecTv 201! Now, that's one lucky broad! |
