Coming Home Countdown: 5 Months (June 20, 2006)
I've been granted an extension on my service
for an additional 7 months (I was supposed to go home
in November, 2005).
Why I'm staying:
1) Define strategy & fundraising for microlender MicroInvest
2)Assist the Cimislia Society for the Disabled set up a profitable sewing workshop for adults w/disabilities
3)Get the Zorista Lux Cinema profitable.

Moldovan idioms from my friend Oleg at
MicroInvest(weirdly enough, all involve shoes):
'He drank tea without his shoes on' - an accepted cause for why someone caught a cold.
'The first ones to get up get to wear slippers' - essentially, the early bird gets the worm (in a household where the are at least one more pair of feet than there are pairs of slippers)
'If you buy a pair of shoes, you should buy drinks for your friends - or else you shoes will break'- Sortof like a shoe blessing. No idea, just a Moldovan-ism. |
