I logged onto your website and read the article titled "Year 2000 and the Holy Spirit".
It was a nice piece but the one discrepancy is that Jesus has not been with us for 2000 years. In fact, he has only been with us for a little of 1999 years. Jesus was born in the year 1 A.D., not in the year 0. Therefore, next year is the true start of the 20th century.
This is the reason that Fidel Castro (being the leader of a highly Catholic country) has not allowed the celebration of the new millineum and 2000 years with Christ until Jan 1st. 2001.
I appreciate the time you took to read through this.

********** Dear Brian
Good point. I have heard that somewhere the pope mentions this is the Jubilee Year to enter the
third millenium, as you note beginning Jan 1, 2001. However the Incarnation began when Jesus was
conceived of the Virgin Mary. We celebrate that event on March 25 (feast of the Assumption) so in
a sense that will mark two thousand year's of God taking human flesh (nature).
Is Castro planning something special for this coming New Years?
God bless,
Fr. Phil Bloom
P.S. To further complicate things I imagine you have heard about the supposed error which was made when the Gregorian calendar was instituted which would actually make Jesus' birth between 6-4 B.C. King Herod, who tried to kill the infant Jesus, died 4 B.C.
