My nephew is seeing a Protestant girl. Her family belongs to a sect that meets in private homes each week. Her father told him that the bible does not support meeting in a formal church building. What can I say in support of attending services in a church building instead of private homes?

Dear Tom,
Sorry I am slow getting back to you. Prayer is the main way to bring you nephew back. A home church like that can be pretty dangerous stuff. You might point out to him the example of Jesus (and Paul) who preached and worshiped in synagogues as well as participating in the rites of the temple in Jerusalem. The church building is the "House of God" the Bible refers to so constantly. Also it is the place where Jesus gives his life thru the sacraments, especially the Eucharist.
My prayers for your nephew, his girl friend and of course for you that God will give you the right words.
