Katherine Anne Satushek
Katherine Anne Satushek of Bellingham passed away at her home on November 17, 2000 after a brief illness at the age of 85. She was born in Lake McMurray, WA., on July 24, 1915 to Mike and Annie Perich.She graduated from Sedro Woolley High School in 1932 at the age of 16 and attended business college in Mt. Vernon. From 1932 to 1939 she was employed as a Stenographer by the State of Washington Department of Transportation in Olympia. On September 9, 1939, she married John Satushek. From 1939 to 1944 she and John made their home at the English Lumber Company logging camps at Lake Cavanaugh, WA., where John was employed as a bookkeeper and store manager. In 1944 she and John purchased a farm near Arlington, WA., and Katherine managed the family poultry and egg business until 1982. Since 1992 Katherine resided in Bellingham. She was a member of Assumption Parish and the Women's Scripture Study and Fellowship.
Katherine enjoyed bible study, reading, sewing, crafts, gardening, concerts and attending political campaign events.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Satushek, her infant son Jimmy Andrew Satushek, and her sister Mary Bloom. She is survived by her daughter Aileen Satushek and her spouse John Flancher of Bellingham; her sons John Satushek and his spouse Theresa Satushek of Monroe, George Satushek and his spouse Kathy Renner of Portland, OR, Bob Satushek and his spouse Frances Barbagallo of Deming, Steve Satushek and his spouse Laurie Satushek of Bellingham, Ed Satushek and his spouse Barb Satushek of Bellingham, Paul Satushek and his spouse Hillary Satushek of Mukilteo, and by 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Vigil Prayer will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20 at Jerns LeVeck Funeral Home in Bellingham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Assumption Church in Bellingham on Tuesday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Phillip Bloom officiating. A Reception will follow the Mass at Assumption Church. After the Reception, a Graveside Ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 21 at the Arlington Cemetery in Arlington.
