In august 1980, photographer Graham Hughes was commissioned to produce this poster for Foster Grant sunglasses. In search of suitably weird subjects, he went down to Hell ( the club, that is) one night, where about thirty aspiring models were selected for a casting session. Only three finally made it to the shoot ( the rest are professional models). On the far righ, apparently rehearsing for a Schweppes ad, is Steve Strange. On the far left and looing moody is film-maker and artist John Maybury. And making sure that his lip-gloss is just right is none other than Marilyn in his former incarnation. |
