Inspired by Leigh Bowery’s outrageous costumes, in the early 90’s, Jon formed a dancing drag cabaret act known as ‘The Pleased Wimmin’ with two friends from college, Darren and Peter. Jon suddenly had an alter ego that only came out at night. Dancing outrageously in pre-house clubs such as Kinky Gerlinky and Taboo ‘The Pleased Wimmin’ became famous in London clublore for screaming, falling over in their heels and being sick over each other. More importantly, they encouraged people to lose their inhibitions and this soon caught the attention of the original Shoomer, Danny Rampling. Danny was so impressed by their style, that he invited The Pleased Wimmin to become a regular feature at Rampling’s infamous Glam night at London’s Milk bar. It was here that Jon was offered his first DJ break, filling in a warm up spot one night. Jon learnt to DJ on the job and with his instinctive knowledge of how to work a crowd, he was a complete natural and destined to become one of the UK’s leading new DJ’s. |
