SOFT CELL
Marc Almond along with Dave Ball formed the electro pop duo known as Soft Cell in the late ‘70s. Soft Cell in 1981 released “Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret” and started a string of international hits including their most successful single, “Tainted Love”. It was a multi-million selling release which can still be heard on the radio today as a classic. Other popular singles included “Bedsitter”, “Numbers”, “Torch”, “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye” and “Memorabilia” which was one of the first techno records ever. Soft Cell sold 10 million records worldwide and created a style that has influenced musicians to this very day. Other equally good albums followed “Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret” including “The Art of Falling Apart” creating a backdrop for romantic drama and also establishing more dance floor successes. Marc & Dave would later go on to each have successful solo careers only to reunite after 20 years and create a brand new album as Soft Cell again, “Cruelty without Beauty”.
