*** I Will Remember You***

It started out so slowly
Things you didn't remember
The letter in the mail today
You didn't know the sender.

The lemon cake you used to love
I brought you one last week
When I came back just yesterday
I went to take a peek.

The cake it was still sitting there
My heart began to shout
In silent screams of misery
I had to throw it out

You just "forgot" that it was there
Your eyes begged understanding
I folded you into my arms
There was no reprimanding.

I held you close, my mind adrift
To bygone days of ours
When we would walk the meadows fair
And pick the wildflowers.

We sang our songs
And told tall tales
Of wonder and delight
Never in my wildest dreams
Dreamed I, this future fight.

I try to jog your memory
Of our days of fancy
You smile and nod
My heart it soars,
But memories are chancy

We look into each other's eyes
Your memories are few
When once you don't remember me
I will remember you……

I love you....
