As I grew up, it always seems
With you, my mom
I shared my dreams
You never laughed
Or called me down
Made me smile
Made me frown.
All the times you did your best
And I know, I was a test
For you and all you tried to do
To keep my world all safe and new.
I rebelled, my way I wanted
Screamed and yelled,
You I taunted.
I never saw the tears you cried
Just reveled in my silly pride.
I knew it all
Thought I was smart
Now I know,
I broke your heart.
You worked so hard
So I could get
Things you hadn't thought of yet.
Your hands got older
Then their years
From years of work,
And wiping tears.
Today I look at photographs
Of you and I together
When I look into your eyes
I see the stormy weather
The days you gave
More then your share
The nights I hurt your pride
I now say, "Mom
I thank you so
I know how hard you tried."
