In this life
There's lot's of thing's
Many things we see
One of them
Your asking for
Is called a guarantee
Now if I were a toaster
And toasted your bread bold
A real dark brown
Then you would frown
The guarantee would hold.
Or if I were
Your brand new car
And thumps and clunks you heard
Or white "splats"
They would make you yell,
You'd blame it on a bird.
Now if I was a chicken
With scales upon my legs
You'd yell and scream, and holler
If I laid no eggs.
Now when you bought that car of yours
Or that toaster, see?
Right along with all that stuff
There came a guarantee.
But I am made of flesh and bone
And something called a heart
It trusted you
And loved you too
And vowed we'd never part.
A guarantee is paper made
On a car or fan
The guarantee I giv to you
Is "Be the best I can."
For no one can expect a love
To flourish without work
So stop this crap,
Come back to me,
Before I go berzerk!!
