General Info

Name: Tak Kayloth. The Kayloth line of Balrog dates back to one of the first Balrogs created.

Race: Balrog. See Typhuun's info for a quote from Tolkien describing Balrogs. Basically, they are dark creatures of immense power, both physically and magically. They display a certain affinity for the fire element and for darkness.

Age: Undetermined. Most likely over a thousand years old.

Personality: Tak, being powerful to an almost obscene degree, is usually haughty and arrogant, but knows how to manipulate others craftily. A brilliant actor, his true intentions are usually indiscernable behind a guise of good will. Generally, he abstains from brutality unless the situation requires it. He has no qualms, however, about using brutal force, indeed, he often revels in it. But using it too often would compromise the rational image he tries to project, and so he will rarely be found actually coming out and slaughtering a poor soul. Because he is able to take a human form, he has learned to display human-like emotions and characteristics. He often has a sly sense of humour and can be even compassionate and sympathetic at times.

History: Most of his history is shrouded in shadows of violence and deception. He fought in several wars, usually on the dark side of things. Eventually, he settled down, once there were no more wars that interested him. He began to live as a human. He married the daughter of one of his comrades, and fathered two sons. From birth, their potential for power was apparent. He trained them to fight, and trained them well. When his oldest son was about 18, he was called to a war that actually did interest him. Leaving his family behind, he went to fight and has not been heard from since.

Physical Description (Human form)

Height: A rather tall 6'3''. If need be, he can alter his appearance, but he usually takes this one.

Weight: 197 lbs. He is by no means slender, and appears intimidating. You wouldn't jump this guy in a bar fight. Packed with muscle, he can actually resolve most conflicts in his human form, with his huge fists and powerful arms to propel them.

Hair: A dark orange laced with black. Similar in appearance to the blackened flames that often surround his body in Balrog form. It is moderately long, falling down to his shoulders freely.

Eyes: A deep, firey orange that often flickers as though two flames do in fact reside behind the irises. Their pupils are an incredibly deep black, similar to Typhuun's, except that the blackness is confined to the pupil. Like Typhuun's they are filled with emptiness and appear to absorb all light, a stark contrast to the brilliance of his irises.

Clothing: It varies, but usually includes a tan tunic with a black coat, and loose-fitting, black pants held up by a brown leather belt with a large silver buckle.

Balrog form: His true form is rarely, if ever, seen. Generally, he will simply take a somewhat intermediate form, in which he appears to be a vast shadow, in the center of which is an incredibly dark blackness in the shape of a man. The surrounding shadows can become flames, and shift in their shape according to his will. Upon entering his true form, they will contort to that shape before his body takes the shape as well. In true Balrog form, he stands at about 9'11'', and weighs over 500 lbs. His face appears to be like that of a lion, with a long, firey mane crackling behind him. His skin is a dark tan color, with black spikes protruding from his back and tail, and black, armor like plates over his chest, arms, legs, and stomach in a formation that appears as muscles. The tail is about six feet long, and can be used as a large club. His leathery wings are about twelve feet in diameter, with claws protruding from their apex. His fists are huge and clawed, often with fireballs encircling them. Often, his entire body is surrounded by flames.

Skills and Abilities

Magic: All Balrogs have great magical power. While they are especially handy with fire, they are not limited to that. Tak can cast any elemental spell with ease, and while not psychic, can cast many mind spells such as hypnosis, stupefication, and paralysis.

Combat Skills: He is highly skilled with most weapons. After battling for over a thousand years, one can easily master most of the weapons out there. In Balrog form, he uses a huge multi-thonged fire whip, as well as a sword of shadow and flame. In human form, he uses the same whip and sword, albeit without the flames. He is also skilled with throwing knives, maces, nunchuka, the bo staff, spears, lances, as well as firearms. While not having a need for martial arts most of the time, he can fight unarmed just as well as he can with weapons and magic. He knows akido, tae-kwan-do, karate-do, and a small amount of kung-fu, jujitsu, and caporeia. He can also wrestle, box, and street-fight well.

Miscellaneous

Birthdate: unknown

Astrological sign: unknown

Theme song: Battery, by Metallica. This song seems to describe an unstoppable force. The lyrics are as follows:

Lashing out the action, returning the reaction
Weak are ripped and torn away
Hypnotizing power, crushing all who cower
Battery is here to stay

Smashing through the boundaries
Lunacy has found me
Cannot stop the battery
Pounding out aggression
Turns into obsession
Cannot kill the battery

Cannot kill the family
Battery is found in me
Battery

Crushing all deceivers, mashing non-believers
Never-ending potency
Hungry violence seeker, feeding off the weaker
Breeding on insanity

Smashing through the boundaries, lunacy has found me
Cannot stop the battery
Pounding out aggression, turning to obsession
Cannot kill the battery

Cannot kill the family, battery is found in me
Battery

Circle of destruction, hammer comes crushing
Powerhouse of energy
Whipping up a fury, dominating flurry
We create the battery

Smashing through the boundaries, lunacy has found me
Cannot stop the battery
Pounding out aggression, turning to obsession
Cannot kill the battery

Cannot kill the family
Battery is found in me
Battery

Personal Quotes: (character quote): "Never will I change for the good of the world, indeed, the world will change for the good of me, or be reduced to gravel and my feet."

(mun quote) "If you please to plant yourself on the side of Fate, and say, Fate is all; then we say, a part of Fate is the freedom of man. Forever wells up the impulse of choosing and acting in the soul. Intellect annuls Fate. So far as a man thinks, he is free." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
