MOON CAKES | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Two cups all purpose flour, sifted Three teaspoons baking powder One teaspoon salt Two teaspoons sugar One fourth cup shortening One half cup Milk One slightly beaten egg Sift dry ingredients together, cut in shortening until crumbly. Stir in milk and egg to form a soft dough. Round dough on lightly floured board and knead slightly. ( I always chant when doing this). Roll out dough about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into small crescent shapes, carve symbols in dough if you like. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees 10 - 12 minutes or until golden brown. To adapt the recipe around the Wheel of the Year, you can add herbs or sprinkle on top. |
